What to Include in Your Business Brochure

4 التعليقات
Most of the people like reading print materials. According to a recent research report, people remember more when they read in print, especially those colorful and attractive pictures. So, if you want to attract some new customers by introducing your product, offer or announcement, go for the printed banners and signs. When it comes to providing essential information regarding a specific product or a group of products, business brochure is the right option.
In exhibitions and trade shows, various companies present their brochure to the visitors for identifying the brand, product and message. It can be called as the first impression on a customer.
Business brochures:
This material is a brilliant option for initial client meeting and networking. In comparison to other printed materials used in promotional activities of a company, brochure needs a different approach while designing and printing.
The brochure provides an in-depth view of products & services and creates a chance of being read by the target audience. So, it should not be as disposable as a leaflet. If you want to get an attractive design, contact an online printing company that provides material, design and printing services.
So, what should a business brochure include? Let's have a look.
Image alignment:
Image placement seems easy, but it's a key aspect of your marketing communication material. Image is not only about your company logo, or company color theme, it's all about your core principles and style. So, color and image placement appears more valuable to a brochure.
Color plays on human sub-conscious mind along with pre-conceived messages of what the brain assumes. So, you should choose a color, that will define your brand and will be easy for the customers to remember.
Include the message and USP:
A brochure is a material that clearly passes messages about your company, business and products. Select a single focus and stick to the message. No matter, you are new to the market or, an established one, you should add your company's unique selling point in the brochure.
Maintain a flow and create interest:
While planning for the brochure, give it a clear sequence starting from the basics to all important messages. Similarly, you should plan for the front page and inner pages in such way that people will want to read on.
Place your mission statement and story:
The mission statement is worth including, because people will have a clear idea about your company's intent and values. At the same time, you can add a little bit information on your background and all that challenges faced.
However, while planning for the brochure you should stay relevant with the content and add a few call to action to get potential customers.

Back to Business Fundamentals! Slay Dragons by Going Back to Business Fundamentals

The Super Bowl is upon us. In just a few days we will find out who the greatest team in football really is; the Denver Broncos or the Carolina Panthers. After all the hype, advertising, and glitter of Super Bowl week it will come down to the game and who plays a better game. The coaches that win the most are doing one thing right now, going back to the fundamentals. I'm sure the Cam Newton and Payton Manning are throwing ball after ball after ball this week, keeping their skills sharp. They, along with the rest of the team are studying the playbook and practicing fundamental plays. The team that has their plays down the best will be the team that wins.
We all think that there is some magic pill or potent that will make us rich and give us the edge in business. That's not true. The one thing we need to do is go back to business fundamentals. Going back to business fundamentals can be boring. Success is boring. It's doing the same thing over and over again. You do it enough and you will achieve success.
When you go back to business fundamentals in a residual income business it means you have to master the art of prospecting. That means doing lots of prospecting for a while until your business finally takes off. Only then can you back off the gas a rest a little bit. The fundamentals of prospecting revolve around the 3X30X5 principle. It means that you prospect three hours a day, five days a week. Let's face it if you don't have 15 hours a week to put into your business, you aren't really serious about it. Then you make 30 calls an hour. You should be able to make that many, depending on how many people you get on the phone. The last is getting five people committed to your presentation every day. That means that you show your business plan or presentation to 25 people every single week.
Here's the deal, people aren't going to buy from you unless they know you are out there and they can buy from you. That's just the way it is. There is no such thing as that magic person that is going to take your business to the top. They don't exist. If you only show your product or service to one person a month you will not have a sustainable business. Prospecting is one of the business fundamentals that you need to master in order to have a large residual income. Go back to business fundamentals and you will win.
If you want to know more about the business fundamentals of a residual income business, how to have a lifetime income, or how to leave a legacy, go to http://www.incredibletransformation.com, give me your information because I want to talk to you.

Drink the Good Stuff

0 التعليقات
I used to only drink white wine, mostly Chardonnay, but occasionally Pinot Grigio. Until my husband and I went to Italy on vacation. I got such an education in wines, in preservatives, in the wine making process- it was fascinating. And I fell in love with good red wine. I rarely drink white wine now, and generally only in the summer or when traveling to a region where it is the predominant wine.
I had a wine tasting event at my house with some friends and one of my friends said, "I don't like red wine." However, this was a guided wine tasting with an expert, so she was tasting them all along with the rest of it. The last wine we tasted was an exceptional bottle of red wine. It was complex, and very smooth. She was shocked. She loved it. She told her daughter (who is a red wine lover), "I found a red wine I love." This was the 'good stuff'. And this wine was on the more expensive side... as most of the really good stuff is!
How often, in life, do we not like something or not buy something, only to find out later that whatever we wanted, that we did not like, was not good because it was not the best value. I want to say cheap, but it is not just about dollars, but about quality. The old adage 'You get what you pay for." is true. When you are buying wines from the grocery store full of preservatives for example that are $9.99 and under, they definitely don't compare to boutique wines without preservatives that may cost $70. I understand you might be on a budget- don't get mad at me. However, the point is that often you dismiss something as not valuable before fully checking it out, when the real problem was the quality of the product.
In business, I have dismissed training I have taken, for example. I have bought online programs to train me on social media or other means of marketing and found them to have little value. Recently, however, I decided to do another marketing training program and found one that is way beyond what I purchased before. In this program, I am getting hands on, practical application work versus the theory of the other ones. It took some time to find the right one, and it is not the cheapest around, but it seems to be useful for my purposes.
As a business success coach, I have had clients who have been coached by others and gave up on coaching as 'not worth it'. Then, they worked with me and I am happy to report, love being coached and are producing great results in their businesses.
I encourage everyone to always do research and check out the validity of whatever product or service you are buying before you buy. Look at the ROI- is it worth it. If you buy the lowest priced product, is that the best decision. It might be, but until you really check out the range of products and compare from a return on investment standpoint, you won't know. Wine might not be important to you, so the cheap stuff might suffice. Same in business, if you buy the cheapest product, just be sure you are getting a good value for your money. Sometimes spending a bit more for a product or service will pay for itself many times over.
It is about finding the quality, finding the ROI and going for it. Don't give up because the first few tastes of red wine are not good. Find the good stuff, and go with that! It is worth it in the end.

Generally Speaking About Etiquette

0 التعليقات
Are you comfortable when a literate urban swirl index finger inside his nose and guide hands to touch body organs? Do you wish they reserved their guttural clamor for TB ward when you see someone coughing deep without covering his wide open mouth?
How is to eat in front of someone who is busy in dental floss? Can you bear the sight of yuck when a well-dressed someone at the other table clears nose with the luxury of the restaurant's napkin?
Instances such as these and a host of others give us the signal that it is the time they had their first lesson in etiquette. We do not own a license to curb these unethical codes of conduct of others not even as gently as a soft whisper unless the defaulter is our own child. This becomes a second nature when we teach them at a young age so that the child grows up accustomed to these social graces.
The etiquette envelops grace and a welcome environment of respect and comfort and makes everyone around us feel relaxed and at ease. We should advise ourselves to set private settings in chapters of our body-book so that the environment surrounding us feels good and happy.
The need of etiquette guidance is so important that nowadays it is included as a curriculum in educational institutions. Today, many big businesses use etiquette trainers who not only show business executives how to dress and act, and how to eat and converse in proper company, but they also coach them how to become more successful in their companies and in the business world by providing lessons on such peripheral items.
In the present scenario when the major trends are reshaping the global context, this learning definitely helps yield greater success rate.
Sometimes we land into uncertainty at an unfamiliar social gathering as to what the proper response should be, and what others around us might expect of us in a certain situation. It is here that the rules of etiquette save us. It encompasses specific codes to follow in every social interaction, and in all societies. It is a culture-centric word.
What is excellent etiquette in one society may not be acceptable in another, but in general, how we drink, walk, sit and talk and carve genteelly is all that comes under etiquette and sync well with all societies.
Acquiring this social comportment is one aspect but practicing it is another. It is only when we do not pay attention that our conduct may go against etiquette. It is imperative that we compute this word's procedural programming in our default system and avoid taking liberties to keep our guards down.
It would be nice to wield this social weapon to guard us.
It comes in singular form. The correct word is etiquette and not etiquettes what many people refer to it as.

Sky Networker

0 التعليقات
In this day and age, networking can take place practically anywhere, including in the sky. Whether you are a consultant, business person or constantly traveling, you can infuse networking into your daily or weekly agenda. Use opportunities en route to and from the airport, waiting to board the plane or on the plane to mobilize your networking objectives.
Listed below are helpful tips on how you can maximize your time and be effective in connecting and building relationship with others.
Membership Perks
Take advantage of the perks associated with being a frequent flyer or having a credit card with your trusted airline company. Find ways to upgrade your status or add on additional services for better and convenient travel. In the process of doing this, it can expose you to other customers with who have similar services. Also, benefit from exclusive lounges and areas to connect with colleagues and counterparts.
Arms Distance
It is always a good idea to start dialogue while waiting to board the plane or en route to the airport via shuttle or transportation services. Without being too invasive, strike up a conversation with someone near you. Ask general open ended questions such as: Are you traveling for business or pleasure? Do you travel often? Where are you headed? What is your field or industry of work? How do you stay connected while traveling? You never know who you will meet or who can offer the right referrals, leads or introductions so make sure you have business cards or exchange information.
Air Time
While 40,000 feet in the air, you have a unique opportunity to focus on your networking without many interruptions. Use the flight time to organize your calendar, search for upcoming networking events or follow up with individuals you have already met. Surf on social media outlets to find new connections or re-connect with existing people in your networks.
Hopefully, these useful tips can provide guidance on your networking journey to success. There are no boundaries and the sky is the limit.

World Ventures - Dream Trips

0 التعليقات
If you're here doing your due diligence on whether or not if World Ventures is a pyramid scheme, then you have clicked on the right article. Let's dive right in it shall we.
Is World Ventures A Pyramid Scheme?
Before I get into more detail about the company let me explain exactly what a pyramid scheme is. A pyramid scheme is where a organization makes use of its new reps so as to make payments profits to its old reps. In English, it is a kind of company paying for hiring new representatives, and offers non- valuable products or sometimes no products at all, and even if it has products, they are of no real value to a consumer. So if you look at the company, you will come to know that the company pays no commissions for recruiting new reps. You are only paid when products are sold. Another little nugget that proves that the company is not a scam is that the company is in business for more than 10 years, and has reps and offices in 26 countries. In addition, WV abides to all local, state and federal laws. The compensation plan of how company reps can earn income is great as well, like they say, your recruit four, you pay no more.
WV uses the concept of buying in bulk to offer exceptional vacations with incredible value and only requires a one-time set up cost and low recurring monthly membership fee, to continually have access to the dream trip packages.
Now you still might be a little skeptical about the company still which is understandable, below are a few more facts that support the company is a legitimate organization and that it is not a fraud.
1. CEO's Wayne Nugent and Mike Azcue were declared runner up businessmen by Ernst and Young. E&Y would never awarded the company if it were a scam.
2. The company is operating in Plano, Texas with more than 200 employees and in an area of 38,000 square feet.
3. In 2013, the company was ranked 75th among the biggest network marketing companies around the globe, reported by Direct Selling News
4. The company is operating in Plano, Texas with a little over 200 employees and in an area of 38,000 square feet.
If you want to be successful in this industry you have to treat it as a real business, not something where you think you can talk to your family and friends, do a couple meetings, and all of a sudden be financially free and independent, no it's going to take long days, and some occasions sleepless nights to even generate attraction.

The 10 Commandments Of Networking

0 التعليقات
As a business owner, networking will be one of the keys to your success. People still like to do business with people, and so your network will translate into your net worth, which is why it's so important to follow the 10 Commandments of Networking.
I was at a seminar this afternoon, and one of the presenters shared this list of the 10 commandments of networking with us, and I thought you would appreciate knowing them too.
Here are the 10 Commandments Of Networking
10. Partner up with people who you can trust and who complement your skill set and strengths.
You've heard the saying that you become the average of the 5 people you associate most with, so make an effort to associate with people who believe in your dreams and can help you achieve them. Another great rule of thumb to remember is that if you're the smartest person in the room, it's time to look for a new room!
Always be seeking out mentorship and association with people who can help you raise your game and achieve new levels. If your current network is the gossip group that likes to hang out at the local cafe and talk about what the neighbours are doing, or rehash the evening news, then I'd encourage you to find a new group. That atmosphere will only drag you down or keep you stuck in your current reality. Find a group instead that's doing great things, and working on new projects that will inspire and motivate you to do big things as well.
9. The power of vision and hope.
I'm not a particularly religious person, but I've heard this expression enough times to know that it's from the Bible. Perhaps you've heard it too.
"Where there is no vision, the people perish"
Having a vision - which is a precisely defined goal with a detailed plan for achieving it and a deadline for it's attainment is what will keep you on track when life throws you for a loop. We all face challenges at times, and it's having a clear vision of where we're going and the hope or belief that we'll get there that keeps us moving forward even through the hard times.
Without that vision, you'll fall back into old habits and routines and you'll never attract a tribe without a vision. People are looking for leadership, and people with a vision of where they're going tend to attract followers.
8. Use effective communication
Communication is everything. Without it we can't function. People who become master communicators become top earners as a result, and it doesn't mean you need to know all the jargon and big words and can dazzle everyone with your mastery of the language.
Quite the opposite actually. Great communicators are people who speak in a way that engages other people rather than talk over them. Great communicators are EXCELLENT LISTENERS! Effective communicators are problem solvers and let the other person do most of the talking while they listen and look for ways to help them.
The saying goes that you have two ears and one mouth, and should use them in direct proportion. An effective communicator will listen more than they talk, because they know they can't learn anything new when they're talking. They only learn when they're listening.
7. Learn people's names and use them. People love hearing the sound of their own name.
How many times have you met someone and forgotten their name the split second after they said it? I know I have more times than I care to mention.
Now, at the same time, when was the last time someone came up to you and said hi to you and remembered your name, while you didn't have a clue who they were. How did you feel? Probably pretty embarrassed that they remembered you, but you didn't remember them.
Did it also make you feel like that person valued your first meeting more than you? I always feel a level of respect from someone when they remember my name, and have a little less respect for someone who doesn't. Not that they're any better than anyone else, just that they've demonstrated that they care enough about me to remember my name, and that increases my trust level in them. And we all know that people do business with someone that they know, like and trust.
Get good at learning and remembering people's names, and watch how much more business will come your way as a result of you showing others you care enough to address them by name each time you see them.
6. Demonstrate kindness
Something as simple as a smile will go a long ways. You'd be surprised how much you can gain by just smiling at people. It's infectious, and if you can cause others to smile, you also brighten their day. If you can do that for someone having a hard day, not only do you become memorable, but they'll want to reciprocate which may mean doing you favours like buying you a coffee, giving you free upgrades, granting you the contract etc.
Make it your goal to ask yourself how you can make the other person's day better for every interaction you have.
5. Handle conflict and adversity with grace
It's inevitable in life that you're going to face conflict and adversity, especially as you start reaching higher levels of success. The key is to become the kind of person who can deal with it in a graceful way rather than let it take you out of the game.
Always strive to be the bigger person. As Jim Rohn says:
"Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better"
As you grow as a person, the challenges you'll be able to overcome will become bigger, but so will your ability to handle them. Strive to become the kind of person who can handle the biggest challenges with an attitude of "I can handle this too!"
4. Learn how to deal with criticism
Much like conflict and adversity, you're also going to attract criticism the higher you climb. If you don't have critics, you're playing too small.
See criticism for what it is. First, consider the source. Is it coming from someone who's just bitter and trying to tear you down, or is it coming from someone who has your best interest at heart, and trying to give you constructive feedback? If it's the former, then either ignore it, or take Abraham Lincoln's advice and understand that "the best way to destroy and enemy is to make him a friend."
If it's coming from someone you respect and look up to, then take that criticism as valuable feedback and look for the lesson in the message.
3. Control the power of your pride
Having pride in your work and accomplishments is healthy, as long as it doesn't become bravado and egocentric. When someone becomes to driven by pride and ego they repel others, rather than draw them in. You will become a much more successful networker if you can replace your pride with humility.
To be truly successful in this industry you must surrender your pride and your ego, and learn from those around you who've created the kind of success you aspire to for yourself.
2. Practice daily exercise
You might be wondering what exercise has to do with networking, but I'd encourage you to have an open mind. First, by exercise, I don't just mean physical exercise. Of course, that is important because without your health, nothing else much matters.
Daily exercise also means things like making time everyday for yourself. This includes things like reading, meditation or prayer, visualization and affirmations, listening to audio programs and learning.
All of these things are an important part of having a daily exercise. For me, these things are all part of my power hour first thing in the morning. Between 5:30 and 7:00 am I do a little exercise (can be as little as skipping rope for a few minutes), I read for 15-30 minutes, I do visualization or mediation work and I may plan my day.
Having a practice of daily exercise is key to maintaining a balance in your life.
1. The importance of setting the right example
All the 9 previous commandments of networking culminate in this final one. Everything else you're doing to improve your networking is for the purpose of setting a great example. If you're building a networking business, then you want to create duplication - and people will do what you do, not what you say!
If your life is completely out of balance and you're trying to encourage others to join your business you're either selling the dream and living the nightmare (which is lying to people) or you're chasing people away because they can see that your life is a mess and they don't want theirs to be the same.
For those of us who are parents, then this commandment is about becoming the best role model for our children to follow. They truly are sponges and are watching and learning far more than we realize.
My hope is you'll take these 10 commandments of networking and apply them to your own life.
Become a master of even a few of them and your life will transform.

Finding the Best Places to Network For Your Business

1 التعليقات
Networking has become a part-time job for some small business owners looking to increase their client base. You could attend networking events from 7:00 a.m. to evening events that end at 9:30 at night. That's a long day and in the middle of it you are supposed to do the business that pays the bills. How do you find the best places to network?
Where do your target clients and referral sources hang out? If your business does business with other businesses, do your prospective clients attend Chamber of Commerce meetings, trade association meetings, join leads groups (such as LeTip or BNI), or do they join Meetup groups, do they come to charity events or golf outings? Do they attend informational meetings on particular topics such as transportation issues, cyber-security, finding the best employees, or what's happening with state regulators that impact your target clients' businesses? These are venues where you can make connections with your target clients.
Attend these events regularly and do something to make your name known. This can include attending meetings on a regular basis and always meeting new people while renewing relationships with people you have previously met, joining committees, sponsoring charity events, speaking at a meeting or holding a workshop through one of your group's events. If, after giving a group your best shot for a year, you find that you are not getting any new business, quit the group and try a different group. Not every networking avenue will lead to positive results. But, you have to give each group a legitimate shot. Of course, you can attend one meeting and immediately conclude that your target market is not there and never will be. In that case, don't waste your time, find a different group quickly.
What about social media? Does your target client use social media? You may find that the business owners that you are trying to network with do not use social media at all. Or maybe they just use LinkedIn. Or they join something that you haven't yet heard about.
If your target clients are consumers, you may find networking with referral sources is a better idea. In that case, you need to show up where they meet and get to know them. Networking to consumers may include using social media and finding online groups that are your target market. If social media is where your target market hangs out, you must contribute in some way to get your name and expertise known. This can include commenting on other contributors' articles, sharing articles that you have found helpful and sharing your own articles (maybe from your blog or YouTube channel).
If you are not sure where your target customers go to network, ask your existing customers how they found you (you should be doing this anyway). You could also ask prospective customers how they would make their buying decision if they were buying your product or service to learn how to gear your networking efforts to the most productive places.
There's more to networking than finding the places where your target client hangs out but it is a starting point. Don't network mindlessly. It's not just a matter of how much time you are putting into networking, it's how smart you are networking.

3 Must-Ask Questions While Networking

0 التعليقات
No matter where in life you are in the current moment, networking is vital to success. This comes from both maintaining the key connections made in the past and developing new ones along the way as well. In order to make the most of everyone in your contact listing, work to ensure you've asked these three questions recently to each of them. The circular nature of maintaining your network and building it will soon be obvious when you learn to ask these questions on a regular basis.
1. How Can I Best Help You?
By asking what benefit you can be to someone else, you are more likely to engage them, to teach them your benefits, and be known as someone who will work to add value to their business or lives. Even the librarian could use help carrying a stack of books from time to time, remember. Rather than focusing on what they can do for you, stressing that you want to be able to give back to them promotes you as a generous figure. And generosity is a characteristic that goes far with just about every other human out there. Boom. Serve others first.
2. What Ideas Do You Have for Me?
While this may seem like an open-ended question, the truth of the matter is that you can make it as specific as you like, when relating it to how the conversation has started. Would you like any feedback on what services you have provided for them, ways that you might have been able to improve how you've worked to help them? Perhaps that librarian you just carried books for has a suggestion of which book you should read next in order to learn more about marketing tools. Asking for the person on the other end of the conversation to offer you knowledge and insight shows trust, interest and engagement as well.
3. My Next Step Is... Any Referrals You Recommend?
Networks function best when they are always in a state of growth. Tell your connection what you are doing and what you are planning, and then be open to asking for help. The lead for a new job may be the librarian's best patron, for example, who has recently stated she needs a new Social Media Guru or company. Express the next phase of your plan, and always work to learn about new experts, leads, and general connections in order to make the most of your networking capabilities.
Offering assistance, asking for feedback, and working to constantly meet new people are the keys to building a successful network.

To meet the future challenges of the growing businesses, it is necessary to ensure the growth & existence. As a result, the market begins to realize the importance of a high performance work system (HPWS). Market excellence can be achieved by maximising its revenue by reducing the waste or the probability of error; the conventional systems usually generates.
According to the Strategic Human Resources (SHRM) literature, the effective HPWS comprises highly integrated processes which can deliver the best performance or even the best outcome. In effective HPWS it is necessary that all the HR practices must be aligned with organizational objectives and strategies. Many researchers believe that to achieve competitive advantages, a firm’s HPWS plays a pivotal role. So a high-performance work system (HPWS) can be defined as a group of distinctive but unified human resource (HR) practices which are considered to improve employee’s services and strength.
During the period of 1990’s, attention shifted towards a high performance work system, and the concept of complementing a troop of HRM practices. In what was actually seen was a promptly emerging financial and governmental environment in the early 1990’s. Economical fairs of the important firms that projected quality, often resulted in market instability. Hence the creativity, problem-solving ability and ingenuity of employees gained more importance.
In the past two decades, the shift of process orientated HR to the bundle orientated HR practices was seen more common. In essence, they are asked to develop some strategic capabilities while at the same time managing it more effectively. Many Scholars have argued that in the current era of knowledge of economy, what is domineering for performance enhancement is relevant knowledge, skills and abilities, with the above competencies, competent leadership and proper management of the workforce.
Keeping in view with the above established facts, when an employee finds favourable environment they become keen to learn and perform at optimal level which ultimately enhances their job performance. Whereas the organizations where the employees' performance is not up to the mark or have a high conflict ratio; it was found that one of the prominent reasons was the lack of required attention paid to enhance their system and processes, which directly affected employee performance. As Bob Sutton says in his study, “The rule of crappy structure deciders the rule of crappy people.” Although HPWS that offers more participation of employees has an outsized impact on job satisfaction, on the other hand the systems which display proper infrastructure, desired training, provide job security brings out employee’s loyalty and ultimately enhances job satisfaction. By giving employees a sense of responsibility and ownership, job satisfaction is usually increased.
National Centre for partnership performance has published a book in 2008, named as, ‘New exemplary of high performance work system’ in that volume they clearly contended and proved that one of the most significant key roles for organizational success is the individuals.

Need For Corporate Training

0 التعليقات
Organizations have realised that training their employees persistently is the key to excel. Corporate trainers prefer topics such as communication skills, business etiquette, public speaking, presentation skills, and other job-specific functional skills. There is a great need to improve the employees currently and training them is the straightforward answer.
Trainers need to possess a natural ease to deliver with confidence while addressing the audience with conviction, create training material relevant to the audience, spontaneity to respond to difficult situations with ease, a good sense of humour, loads of enthusiasm and expertise in the subject matter that is being presented. Conducting training sessions to the participants is only one part of the job, there are many hours of planning and organizing that enable the training sessions to take place and determine their success. Most good trainers also possess indefinable charm that creates magic in a training forum leaving a lasting impact.
Corporate trainers are instructors who work in a business environment and convey knowledge or skills to a group of employees. They may be hired full-time by a company to train new employees and assist in the transition to new business systems. Others work as independent consultants or freelancers and visit businesses on a short-term basis to train employees, increase efficiency and assist employees in the midst of company mergers.
Corporate trainers hail to this line of work from a variety of education paths and employment backgrounds. They can work in a variety of business settings, so you should spend some time thinking about what area of business interests you the most. Consider your own skills and expertise and think about the area you can fit into. Corporate trainers will generally be situated within the human resources department but trainers can specialise in everything from marketing, finance, education and compliance. Classroom sessions, open book tests and videos are only some of the traditional methods used by instructors to deliver courses.
However, with the age of digital technology upon us, many trainees are turning to the Internet to build skillsets, with mixed results. There isn't an exact way to train. Instructors usually work hard to provide a variety of learning methods to their classroom, whether it's training a new joiner, a senior employee or a top level manager. There is a large variety of online training providers that offer excellent learning from a distance. Today, trainees can take a variety of courses online through training providers with globally accredited and standard training providers. Some of the sessions are extensions of their jobs at office, requiring trainees to register and pay a fee. Others are a bit more progressive and are offered as free online training courses. This is a far cry from traditional trainings and will be the new face of learning.

Moving Towards a 360 Transformation - HR Trends of 2015

0 التعليقات
With frequent changing technology and its consumption pattern, businesses are facing challenges to keep up with the pace of changing work trends while making themselves adaptable, forward looking and solution oriented as possible.
As per the latest Human Capital Trends organizations requires dramatic changes in strategy for talent recruitment and retention, leadership and most of all making the organizations culture more open and adaptable along with keeping global workforces engaged, motivated and committed to their workplace.
What are Business Leaders Saying?
The urgency of the issue arises from Cultural engagement of employees, and then trickling down to leadership issues which were of high concern even in 2014. Organizations are still struggling to find a neutral ground to develop effective and long-term leadership programs that will benefit and engage the current global workforce and provide leaders for the future.
Leadership Gaps/ why is Leadership a persistent problem?
It is the leaders or the managers, supervisors of every department that bring in strategy, provide direction and engage their employees. But, the problem keeps occurring as people are constantly being shuffled into new roles. When people are moved to new supervisory roles, they need to realize it is not a new job; but a new career. Being a leader entails much more such as developing others in your team; leading a team; inspire and develop others skill sets is different from their regular functional jobs 86 percent individually to develop leaders for the organization. But the other 80%-90% of organizations would hardly invest anything; they would guide them to undertake leadership courses in order to step up to a supervisory role. Investing in leadership means being open to new ideas, opinion and strategy, as effective leaders bring about changes in strategy and culture, as a strategic communication role with the whole organization.
Organizations can adapt to a continuous development program moving their employees into roles that could highlight their strengths and weakness. Assign external resources, coaches or give them external assignments outside the company, to learn things that they can bring to the company for further learning. But all this is initiated from and by the top management.
Learning & Development
Back in year 2000 when e-learning was first introduced and talked about, to a generation of 'info-learning' sites like Udemy, MIT Courseware, Coursera, Lynda, YouTube etc. have changed the paradigm of learning for the general audience or the 'consumer' as opposed to when one enters a corporate setup. The corporate learning has fallen behind than the consumer learning environment. Secondly, the internet and social learning is all about engagement and paving ways to bring back the users to their site again. While the corporate learning environment is still stuck in the early 2000s with compliance and performance issues, therefore this year Learning & Development is the 3rd biggest HR issue talked about by organization as opposed to being number 8 previously. People are randomly identifying and learning skills to give themselves a career boost as if the 'learning curve is the earning curve'. Also, a strong fun learning environment attracts talent that would like to stick around as well. And even the training industry lags behind with prior teaching experience and not having the tools to differentiate themselves nor create a major shift in the industry. Organizations simply need to learn from where and how the interned has boosted educational learning and apply that to corporate learning making their content readily available for people to learn from.
On Demand Workforce - Is HR ready?
Working trends have shifted gears to more of part-time workers than full-time workforce, one reason being people were struggling to make ends meet working through a recession time period, which has given way to freelance jobs. People with multiple skill sets have availed the opportunity of bidding themselves to multiple employers based on their skill sets. Companies are now juggling with the influx of contractual employees or project based employees, which would not be hired through the HR but would be signed up through the procurement departments. Many companies outsource their Research and Development, innovation modeling to think tanks or experts in the field. This is the trend which is now following through, and HR needs to be kept in the limelight of this huge pool of contractual resources available.
Engagement and Culture
The good old workforce environment of sticking to a company for a good 15-20 years has just disappeared. Old brands, large companies have not evolved with their talent management, or how they would like to balance work and personal lifestyles, accommodating the newer generation and their work lifestyle, people want to work from home or while they are travelling flexible working hours where and when they are comfortable. People want and expect flexible benefits, gain as much as they can doing multiple things to keep themselves motivated be able to give feedback to organizations. The expectation of the newer workforce is very different from the traditionalist organizations; As compared to some of the large organizations really accelerating to adapt to the changing workforce.
Gone are those days when organizations could rely on their company brand name and forget about it. Now people working within the organization are all talking about the management and cultural issues that they work for. Therefore, companies need to be even more vigilant about building a strong engaging and learning environment for their employees.
Performance Management
Performance management and annual reviews were questioned upon at least 4-5 years ago, and now the appraisals have become so outdated. Large organizations spend almost 2 million hours a year to review annual appraisal process which does not include the day to day management tasks which affects sales and business overall. To date the best managers considered are the ones who would speak with their team on a regular basis giving feedback and seeing the progression. It is considered as the secret ingredient as it is one of the most important processes showing how the company values its employees and how employees are evaluated year after year. Some of the big organizations like Adobe are in the mindset of eliminating annual performance reviews. It is their way of helping leaders and managers to coach along rather than after to build a continuously learning environment.
Reinventing HR
The role of HR is changing globally and is no longer considered as a department where you interact with people when being hired or when in trouble. 80-90% of HR functionality is based on dealing with Talent Issues, building leadership, coaching, putting in place an engaging learning environment. The other administrative functions such as payroll, time management etc. are now mostly automated in order to give the HR a more holistic strategic consultant role. Secondly, each organization is unique in its own business culture and processes, and HR practices cannot be taken off from any other company. The need is to innovate and re-engineer processes that will be more aligned with your organization. HR has to adapt and understand the importance of technology and how it can be used for their benefit. The role of Chief HR officers is changing and most of them are coming from a non HR background.
People Analytics stuck in Neutral
A lot of HR organizations are now looking into people data, where are the employees coming from, what trainings and jobs history and educational history. Companies are now best applying this large pool of data to understand and predict their retention problems and thus reinventing and designing employee engagement programs. This kind of vast data is also helping in expanding HR's sources of talent and improving the quality of new talent hires. Data analytics is mostly used in sales and customer service areas and profiling the high performers and set new goals and quotas. Companies can start with current tools they have in hand, and show their employees on the return on investment for the business, business unit and how to develop on those skills to achieve their goals. HR must work with the IT people to rationalize and clean up and monitor the data being inputted to the systems. Companies are required to discipline and search for the best solution.
People data everywhere
Bringing the outside in When companies are building on their data analytics strategy they need to consider all the information which can be provided from external sources like glassdoor and LinkedIn that is more up to date and accurate information into their infrastructure. For example, companies are truly affected when their top employees leave the company. A lot of the data that is making your employees leave is not from inside your organization.
Redesigning & Simplifying Work
More and more companies are seeing their employees being overwhelmed with work, burnouts; information overload is high which is increasing organizational complexity. Companies are looking to de-clutter their work, in order to hire new people and retain them as well. This is moving towards the trend of agile work, whereby companies are relying on working with smaller teams, culture and trust, where there is less infrastructure and compliance required and relying less on systems. Companies that are progressing are the ones that are not using extensive systems but single application software that is easy to use, does not require extensive training and saves up on time. Pushing productivity is essential, for example a large manufacturing organization has implied not to help their managers set goals. But to reduce the number of things they do every day. So the new coaching models are sitting down with your team and enlist all that you are doing and working to reduce some of that work, so the focus can be on the most important tasks especially with customers rather than internally doing administrative tasks. So the trend is towards designing a solution to solve a problem in the least number of steps possible.
Machines as Talent - Collaboration not Competition
Technology is a continuous process that will replace some jobs; it is about accepting the shift that will happen. These technologies are there to make use of to our best advantage instead of getting afraid of them taking away our jobs. Job roles are changing and will continue to change. Companies need to be more vigilant where these technologies are coming from and collaborating with cognitive computing. It's not about not having jobs in the future, it's about embracing technology and being skilled to be able to use yourself with those technologies. HR needs to be able to access these technologies and people who are working with such new technologies.

Properly Investing in Your Organization's Human Capital

0 التعليقات
Human capital. I remember when I first heard this phrase as a new human resource manager. I didn't know what it was then, but now, I realize that it's every organizations most precious resource.
Human capital are the collective knowledge, skills, and abilities within a population. Companies would like to see this set of knowledge, skills, and abilities grow. Within a work environment the growth of this population's knowledge, skills, and abilities are considered investments that are made by the organization. So, successful organizations invest both time and money to provide opportunities to improve their human capital.
Human capital investment is the entire premise behind a personnel or human resource division. The professionals that work in human resources are trained to ensure that the investments made in employees have a solid return.
The term ROI or Return on Investment is a commonly used business acronym. It's common because businesses want a positive return on their financial investment so that they can make money and continue their operation. Similarly, the Human Resource departments within organizations are looking for returns on the investments that are made into their employees.
Great organizations get positive returns from their employees. In fact, the organizations that do this the best typically end up on the top 100 list of best employers to work for. Simply put, they care about (and invest in) their employees so that they're happy and productive.
People are the life-blood of any organization. When you're taking care of your body and being active, your blood is flowing, you're much healthier. The same goes for when you take care of your employees in your business. They're more active and the business is much healthier. Investments in people can transform a struggling business into one that thrives.
Investments cost. Investments cost time and money. Businesses do not want to waste either of those commodities.
With that said, here are three basic human capital strategies that can transform your organization into a high performing operation which can help generate a positive ROI.
  1. Onboarding. The process of helping a new employee get acclimated to their new environment is one of the first things that great employers do well. A new employee has lots of questions. Creating an environment that's open and inviting can allow the employee to feel that their questions are valued and validated. Having designated, patient, people to answer new employee questions are a great strategy. These designees can inform the new hire about the culture of the organization, the expectations within the position, and develop crucial relationships in the process. The onboarding process officially ends when the employee feels comfortable in their new environment.

  2. Development. Having employees who are dedicated to the organization will lead to their desire to be developed further. A good onboarding process sets the foundation to employee dedication. Once these employees have begun to show promise, it's time to give them opportunities to grow. Have intentional opportunities for the employee to experience new aspects of their department or the organization. Development can be a continuous process depending on the employee and the organization.

  3. Recognition. Now that the solid foundation of onboarding has been laid and the walls of development have begun to arise, it's time to put the roof on by recognizing employees for their hard work. Recognition can come in many forms. Since every employee is different, the time that has been spent developing a positive work relationship may give clues or insight into how they may want to be recognized for a job well done. Recognition should be continuous and consistent.
These three strategies, are a starting point to ensuring that the return on employee investment is a positive one. Consider each of these strategies individually, but realize that both development and recognition are ongoing.
Attention to detail concerning the growth of an organization's human capital can create a positive return for everyone.

What Organization Development Is All About and Why You Should Care

0 التعليقات
If I asked you, "What is organization development (OD)?" would you be able to tell me? In most cases, people have no idea what OD is all about so let me see if I can shed some light on this critical, but unknown, area of expertise.
In short, discovery is at the heart of organization development - the practice of helping organizations solve problems and reach their goals. Organization development has a foundation in a number of behavioral and social sciences and is an interdisciplinary field with contributions from business, industrial and organizational psychology, human resources management, communication, sociology, and many other disciplines.
Let me further offer a basic definition: Organization development is the process of increasing organizational effectiveness and facilitating personal and organizational change through the use of interventions driven by social and behavioral science knowledge.
Creating and managing change in order to create higher performing organizations in which individuals can grow and develop is a central theme of the field of OD. When we speak of organization development, we are referring to the management of certain kinds of these changes, especially how people implement and are affected by them.
By now you are probably asking, "What the heck does this all mean?" and "Why should I care?"
Stay with me. I'm going to explain what this means and why you should care.
Organization Development Is... many things, but ultimately it is all about improving the effectiveness and performance of the organization for sustainable, profitable growth and that is why you should care.
OD is distinguished from, yet applicable to, specific functional areas such as finance, marketing, business strategy, information technology, or supply chain management. When organizations attempt conscious changes, whether it involves implementing a new IT system; changes in strategy, goals, or direction; or adapting to a new team leader, OD offers relevant processes and techniques to make the change function effectively. This happens through several specific specialized areas of expertise. Let's explore these:
Strategic Planning
Strategic Planning is an organizational development activity that is used to set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, ensure that employees and other stakeholders are working toward common goals, establish agreement around intended outcomes/results, and assess and adjust the organization's direction in response to a changing environment.
It is a disciplined effort that produces fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what an organization is, who it serves, what it does, and why it does it, with a focus on the future. Effective strategic planning articulates not only where an organization is going and the actions needed to make progress, but also how it will know if it is successful (and that is why you should care).
Organization Assessments
An organizational assessment is a systematic process for obtaining valid information about the performance of an organization and the factors that affect performance. It differs from other types of evaluations because the assessment focuses on the organization as the primary unit of analysis.
Organizations are constantly trying to adapt, survive, perform and influence. However, they are not always successful. To better understand what they can or should change to improve their ability to perform, organizations can conduct organizational assessments. This diagnostic tool can help organizations obtain useful data on their performance, identify important factors that aid or impede their achievement of results, and situate themselves with respect to competitors (and that is why you should care).
Leadership and Employee Development
For an organization to grow and develop, its workforce must evolve as well. One means of doing that is by providing executives and employees with opportunities for development.
While individual and organization learning is a part of OD and a key value, OD work is not confined to training and development activities. OD is not generally the context in situations in which learning is the sole objective, such as learning a new skill, system, or procedure. OD deals with organizational change efforts that may or may not involve members of the organization needing to learn specific new skills or systems. While some OD interventions do incorporate training and development programs, OD is more centrally concerned with the context that would make a training and development program successful, meaning it has a positive impact on organizational effectiveness and performance (and that is why you should care).
HR Transformation
HR organizations have been transforming themselves for years, making significant progress in reducing costs and improving operating effectiveness through HR system and process improvements and outsourcing and employee self-service and that's just part of the value that HR Transformation can deliver. The next big step for HR is to help the business achieve its strategic objectives for overall organizational performance and growth. (And that is why you should care.)
OD is all about change
OD is intended to address long-term change. Even in cases in which the intervention is carried out over a short period (such as a several-day workshops conducted on-site) the change is intended to be a long-term or permanent one. OD efforts are intended to develop systemic changes that are long lasting. In the contemporary environment in which changes are constantly being made, this can be particularly challenging.
Today's organizations are experiencing an incredible amount of change. Changes that OD practitioners address are diverse as well, addressing organizational structures and strategies, team effectiveness, and much more. OD is a practice that can be used in any organizations from education to health care, from government to small and large businesses. And OD initiatives can include many kinds of people for whom organizational change is a priority, such as managers and executives, project managers, and organizational members in a variety of roles.
